A few bowls almost done

I took a break from pen related items to work on some roughed out mesquite bowls I had kicking around. I roughed them out and sealed them with Anchor Seal 12/28/2010. One picture is of a roughed out bowl blank.

I'll get back to these next weekend to turn the bottoms, sign, label wood species and number before applying a finish.

As luck would have it, I came across two stragglers hiding in my garage when i was cleaning up the chips this morning. They won't get away that easy:biggrin:

I fine looking pile of Mesquite you have there. I love turning Mesquite! I mistakenly thought that wet Mesquite would turn easier as with other species. Nope, but I still love turning it. Been working on a few chunks of it myself.

I love the color of mesquite. Like to fill any cracks with crushed turquoise and use a Danish oil finish. The wood comes out looking like satin and just begs to be rubbed between your fingers.
