Before I let my Shopsmith go to my son I wanted to make a bowl from a blank I had prepared some time ago. It ended up 8 3/4 x 3 1/4

One of may sons asked if I could make a cube illusion bowl. And my wife challenged me to do away with the hole. This is the result: 7 1/2" x 2" the design is about 4 inches square.

I'm pretty pleased with the results and will try this one again!

Very well done on the cube illusion ! Only thing that would make it look better would be to have the entire bottom surface illusionary .
I will be doing that on the next iteration - I was surprised how many pieces I had to cut (and sand) just to do that size. I used up all the pieces I was able to cut from the sticks I had and didn't have enough left over to make the square any larger. On my next one I hope to make a complete 8x8 board of cubes to cut the rings. That will have them travel up the sides.
