This blank has lived in my Jr. something bin as other blanks passed it by. Today I took a patience pill and four Motrin and got to work. I used a 2" radius carbide cutter on an angle from start to finish. After the cap was turned I rotated the cutter so I had another sharp surface. Though it may not show, the Simstone is smooth and very glossy. I just buffed and polished the sanded blank.

I guess those other six Simstone blanks in storage will get their chance at the lathe.

Your patience paid off, the pen is beautiful. I've made 2 pens from the similar TruStone but I doubt I'll be going there again anytime soon. It's a different animal altogether from wood or resin blanks.

All around beauty. That is just about the only material I gave up on. I am glad you stuck with it; awesome results.
