I wanted to try an extreme angle knot so it would cover more real estate so I got out my old table saw sled and screwed a 2x4 to it as a miter and clamped a bit of wood to that for a stop. After doing a set of cuts and glueups Of padauk all around with my 1/8" kerf I changed to a fine kerf blade, shimmed the stop and cut another set using some heat darkened purpleheart. Next I backed the stop up a bit and cut a set with regular purple heart one the other side of the padauk. Due to a misalignment problem with my drilling vice the hole wasnt true end to end so I decided to put it on a Wall Street type pen instead of the Zen I was planning on.

Gary, the pen doesn't look all that bad, and you have to keep in mind that this was a first. I'm quite sure that you will accomplish what your trying, as long as you don't stop trying.

I think it looks great! That extreme angle must have made it tedious and time consuming... We are the only ones that can appreciate how much effort it takes.. Great job.
