While I was in the Nat'l Hq. today there was a knock at the door.
I opened the door to see a poor little boy standing there and he said"please tell me Mr JJ Artwood how do you make such nice pens".
Well, I looked in his sad puppy dog eyes and his runny nose and said to him
"Little man there are four things to keep always in mind"
1: maintain a clean and orderly work area
2: always prepare your parts with care,to the highest standards.
3: Always have a plan "B" which is usually a backup blank.
And the poor little fellow said raising his little hand that was barely covered with tattered old gloves and a tear in his eye "How do you know if it's beautiful?" I said that's step four, you have to put the pen down and don't look at it until 2am cause at 2am everything is beautiful!
"Thank You'said the little boy as he walked back out into the freezing rain,he said that his family was so poor that they would spend their days walking along the roadside in all sorts of weather digging empty cans out of the snow banks.
I told him that I could not in good faith have his family doing that in this horrible weather,I told him to gather his family and bring them back here.
When they arrived I showed them a spot in my back yard where I was sure there was a bunch of mty beer cans in one spot!
OH I made a couple pens too!
