3520B Knockout Rod Assembly

Looking for some pictures of a 3520B Knockout Rod Assembly.

I want to make one / have one made for my lathe.

If someone has one for sale, that would be nice also.

Does anyone make an aftermarket knockout rod like the one for th 3520B?

You can see one on page 7 of the 3520B manual. Yours would have to be thin enough and long enough to make it through your headstock. I just use a rod with a wooden block on the end, kinda like a shifter knob.

(maybe you should just buy a 3520B - it comes in the package! )

Is it a slide hammer, or simply a handled steel rod with a brass tip?

It's been a year since I've seen one, but I believe it's just a rod threaded into a big block - not a "slider" AFAIK. You could call your nearest PM dealer and ask.

It is a slide hammer.

Have you checked the price as a replacement part? Osolnik Machinery has them for about $65. That's the only place I've looked. Maybe they can be had for cheaper.

Posted this on your thread "over there" too but in case this helps someone else in the future....

Easy way is just to go buy a 3/8" or 1/2" brass rod long enough to reach through the headstock. Turn a handle for it and glue it on. Done.

The stock one is a 3/8" steel rod with a brass tip and a large steel handle that can move about a 1-1/2" to act as a momentum hammer. But just sliding the brass rod would work too.
