I've been playing with this design for a month or so. I wanted to add a few more things that I've played with over the years. This is the .308 casings with a Copperhead snakeskin and a Texas Quarter inlay. Questions and Comments are Always Welcome.

Thanks for the reply Mike. I'll start with the bottom. An 8mm tube slides nicely into the necked part of the casing. Therefore I drill the primer out to fit the 8mm tube. I use epoxy to glue tube. Then I trim the 7mm tube to length. I use scotch tape just on the ends to keep it centered. I only use about a 1/4" of tape on the ends. I press the nib and transmission together then glue the assembly in the casing.
I cut the casing with a Dremel Tool. When I get the ends close to the length I want I use a disk sander wth a Rick H. jig to square those up. Then I'll wrap the tube and if I'm adding something to that I'll use the casing ends to center that. In this case the quarter. I'll cast just the tube and let the resin cure. Once cured I'll trim the ends on the lath so the casings will fit just right. I'll leave the diameter of the blank oversized. Once the center tube is done I'll cut an 8 mm tube so it just fits in the casings. Glue the 8mm tubes in the casings. Then I'll use Scotch tape to wrap the ends just like the lower one and then glue up the pieces. Once the Epoxy is cured I'll turn the blank flush with the casings. It's a lot of work for a Slimeline but it makes a nice pen. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Good Luck and Take Care. I found these pictures so I added them. Maybe they'll help you figure out what I was trying to say.
