Here is the second one of this new effort. The first was Beli posted here. This is ambrosia maple with a live edge. There is some work cleaning up the live edge while trying to maintain character. I also used some FDA food contact approved resin to fill in any wormholes and cracks.
The longer working time of 30 minutes is nice but the 24 hour wait to do anything with it isn’t. Larger natural wood like this, using no pressure, is more of a pain with the resin. Using heat to thin it and get bubbles out isn’t bad but inevitably it seemed that once I thought I was done, a bubble showed up or the resin soaked further into the crack or hole. Another fill and another 24 hours.
