Gentlemen:
I am searching for a fixture to mount in the 2MT tailstock on my lathe that would have sharpening cutouts and be tapered as a Morse Taper 2 receptacle.
(Think "Morse taper 2 pencil sharpener on an MT2 stick).
Have any of you encountered such a device or is this some fevered 2am dream of an overworked engineer's brain?
Thanks for any help you might provide.

You can buy Morse Taper Reamers to finish or repair the hole to the correct angle and size but to the best of my knowledge there is no tool fitting your needs.

Paul, that sounds like an interesting tool. It may be easier to just mount the piece in a chuck and turn the desired point with the lathe tools.

If you do figure out how to make that work, please help me figure out how to make a tool to turn down a piece and thread it in one operation without having to mount the workpiece - just feed it in by hand. That would be awesome!

If you are just trying to make a wood morse taper all you need to do is mount a piece of wood and turn it. Use calibers to get the dimensions at each end and then turn down the wood between them. I've made several that way. It only takes a few minutes.
