Title:
Modified Cigar

Description: This is a lowly cigar kit wrapped in cedar with purple acrylic accents. It is always risky mixing media, but this one seems to have handled it well. The tubes were painted white and I replaced the nib ring, center ring and finial.

Title
- The Venerable Cigar

Description: This is a Berea WCO-145-SRG-1, Cigar (Fat) Bright Copper kit. The segmented blank is SimStone Malachite, Copper, and Ironwood from the Sonoran Desert. It was finished using a GluBoost.

The original Cigar design can be attributed to Gary Voorhies from Woodcrafters of Oklahoma. His retail business catered to hobbyists and wood crafters. The Cigar kit was manufactured by Berea Hardwoods Co. in the early 1990's with its WCO part number as a reference to Woodcrafters of Oklahoma.

Title:
Indonesian Soapstone

Description: This is from a piece of Indonesian soapstone that I bought off Ebay. I thought there needed to be something different in the collection and it seems alot of people wonder about stone pens. Pick this so more people can see/feel one wherever the collection is displayed at.

Title:
Damascus Steel Slide Action

Description: This a Damascus Steel Slide Action click pen from Jaxe Pen Kits. Each kit is handmade in Pakistan using real Damascus steel, not etched steel. Unlike most pen kit, there are no press fittings, each end of the tube is threaded to accept the nib and finial. I dressed this pen with a spalted guava blank. I finished the pen with Pens Plus to leave a natural feel and look to the wood to compliment the textured feel of the Damascus steel.

Title:
Executive Twist Pen in Cobalt Blue

Description: This Executive Twist Pen is made using a Curly White Ash blank cut from a small log. After sanding to 800 grit, the lathe was set to its lowest setting to apply Cobalt Blue Shoe Cream using a piece of paper towel. I continued to sand to 1000, 1200, and 1500 grit, and finished with 18 coats of Friction Polish.

Title:
US Navy Ship Fordite Virage

Description: This is a Virage Fountain pen wrapped in US Navy Ship Fordite that was sourced out of a shipyard in Louisiana. It was turned and sanded then polished with Yorkshire Grit to really help bring out the depth of the color layers. It is finished with multiple layers of Gluboost then wet sanded and finally polished again with Yorkshire grit and McGuire's plastic polish.

Congratulations to the winners. They all were deserving. These should fit right in the collection well and represent what we do here very nicely. Well done.
