I would have had a better chance if it was an acorn finding contest, and I was the blind hog(and the only one) in a grove of Oak trees.

I 0 for 1000's in wood id contests.

I was just trying to stir the pot myself. Amazing how different we all see these blanks.:wink:

Actually, the only one that was somewhat uncharacteristic of the species was the bloodwood, and that was just a darker specimen than what is typically seen.

All the rest were very typical examples, I just tried to select woods for the contest that are somewhat similar to one or more other species so there would be have to be some guess work involved.

And I do have a diabolical reputation to uphold :biggrin::biggrin:
