2 bottle stoppers and a shave set

I'm still learning how to turn stuff without using a mandrel. Finishing the ends are the hardest part for me. These turned out ok, but not perfect.

And it was pretty much impossible for me to take decent pictures of this wood. The grain just would not show up.

I would love to do fancy ones, but I know finishing them is going to be terrible, so I try to stick with simple designs. As it was, the padauk one was a bear to finish. I had to do it 3 times because I would sand through to the wood on the edges.
