Just finished my first set of Gent/Statesman pens today. Boy the tubes are Thin and there isnt much wood on them when done.I bought the CSA kit for making them and the large drill bit doesnt come in a brad point.Didnt like that.Need to find a brad point in that same size.Worked on a higher gloss finish than I normally do.Cant really tell in pic but they do shine :) Still need a bit deeper gloss though.Something to work on. Comments welcome. Both are Amboyna burl.

Great looking pens,nice job!
I have made a couple Gents.I had the same experience on the
larger drill.I was using the 37/64 "regular" drill bit,
pilot drilling to open up, but well lets say the blank
survival rate was dismal.[B)].
I found this at woodcraft (plug #146624 in their search
box on their website).Colt bradpoint 15mm bit.I picked one up at my local woodcraft and love it.No more flinching![:0]
It is nominally .0125 larger than the 37/64.I found this
gives more room for glue, the 37/64 hole I was getting
was tight on some materials,so its great for me.
Might be your solution,too.

Oh BTW , the pens are sitting on a stump of Birdseye maple I brought back from Canada. It didnt handle the climate change well. Tiny cracks appeared, much of the wood isnt usable for pens.[:(]
