I finally got my old bandsaw up and running. MAN!! Is there ever a difference between this saw with a 3/4" blade and my old Ohio Forge with a 3/8" blade (widest it can take.)

I put a riser kit on it, so I can cut up the bigger pieces of mulberry. (Problem is that it has rained like mad for two days and all my mulberry out there is sopping wet.)

Picture? We need to see this baby.

Yeah, I agree intirelly...!

Wet wood is a lot easier to handle than green wood, getting both ain't funny but doable.

You seem to have a fair amount of this Mulberry that I know is beautiful, it may pay to have the wood on a wooden pallet and covered to a tarpaulin, that would void the rain to soak into it...!

Cheers

When I lived in Mesa, ...

if we got two days in a row of rain we almost danced in streets. Atleast, we sat on the back porch and drank. Adults, kids, dogs, just sat and watched the rain on the back porch.

(But then it is monsoon season in the Valley)

Congrats on the Band saw. Just leave a few trees standing in county.

I beat you.
Mine is 1941.
After 2 modern type saws and all their problems gave up and went for something solid. Would not change it for anything new.
Enjoy as I do mine.

I have a pile of wood that is 50 feet long, 12 feet wide and up to 4 feet high. Good thing I have a big backyard, isn't it?
It is sitting on decomposed granite, so it is out of the mud at least.

This picture was before I worked on her. Note the wooden blade guard! My brother found the wheel covers AFTER I bought another set. She was my grandfather's, and the first power saw he let me use when I was little. I'll take some AFTER pics and put them up.

OK, here is before and after. I added a riser kit, new hexagon guide post, new tires, new belt, new blade, band rollers, new tracking arm, wheel covers, new table pin, new thrust bearings and a new tension adjuster with BIG wheel. Got most of the parts from Iturra Designs.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just acquired a 14" Delta of similar vintage. No tires, no motor and no blade. Did you end up running just one speed? What did you get for a blade? I'll mostly be cutting blanks with this--my jury-rigged HF portable has a nice bi-metal blade that I'll keep for chewing through steel.

Thanks for any advice in getting this tired iron running again!

Regards,
Michael

PS I'm not finding a website for Iturra Designs--do you have a link?
