$180,000 lathe

I stopped by BWP bats today for the free tour at their factory outlet. It was very interesting to see how they make wooden bats. Our tour guide mentioned the lathe was valued at $180,000! I can see why after it turns out a bat in less than a minute. If you are driving through Pennsylvania on I80, I highly reccomend a visit.

At $80 per bat, I guess that's not a bad investment! That's a cool lathe. Thanks for sharing!

Ask the factory if you can have (or buy cheaply) the offcuts from the bats. They are excellent for turning practice and are good for using with more interesting wood to make segmented pen blanks.
