Just looged in here to show my latest turning that I started yesterday and finished this morning. .
Got the tutorial for making it from the series of Videos by Bob Hamilton in the Videos Tutorials board in my own site.
Got a foot turned and got three coats of lacquer on it. After it is cured I will will rub it down with steel wool lubricated with paste wax to cut the gloss back a little.
It was quite an experience for my first of this kind. I have some slight misalignments of a couple rings. Pretty tricky getting those aligned. Also flattening the rings was a bit of a challenge with just rubbing them on sandpaper on the table top . That is a case where either a V sander or a drum sander would be wonderful for leveling the rings prior to gluing.
