I said I would post all 6 but the owner is coming and getting them as they are finished. So, pictured is #1, 2, 3, 4 and the hemisphere I just found out about.
Two more to go.
Do a hood turn daily!

What kind of weight are they after you've turned them?
What kind of finish are they getting?
And lastly, why not a solid piece of timber instead of the laminated?

Finished weight is around 17 lbs. The blanks weigh about 45 lbs before turning.

They will be stained dark with a clear coat and hung from a ceiling 40 ft up.

The wood mill work where these will live is oak. I'm making them for a cabinet maker and I used what he brought. I'm making 6. #5 is being sanded and #6 goes on the lathe after lunch.

This has been a fun project and a great learning experience but I;m glad it is almost over.

Do a good turn daily!

You could still bowl with those, even without finger holes ....

It's called "Towel Bowling". You hold the ball slung in a towel, and you release one side of the towel a the peak of the swing, just above the floor... By releasing only one side, you impart a light spin on the ball that allows you to aim for the proper break in the pins. There are probably a ton of videos online that show this and other alternative sports. :)
