0.5mm pencil mechanism question...

I'd like to make my mom a desk set (pen/pencil) out of the Berea Ultra Cigar.

Does anyone know if I can use the 0.5 Pencil mechanism in the Ultra Cigar pen to make it a pencil?

Have not used the schmidt insert in a cigar pen, but it worked well in several other parker style pens.

Not at all sure what mechanism Berea is using now.

I believe when I tried it (it has been awhile) with a cigar it was an easy swap. Sometimes with the Sierra pens some modifications are neccessary, such as enlarging the nib end slightly. This article describes the procedure ... http://content.penturners.org/library/pencils/sierrapencil1.pdf

Personally I prefer the 7mm ... All I do is break the 5mm lead constantly.
