I used the same woods for both pens, but different veneers. Fiona pen kits The chrome pen with beech lower part i used light yellow veneer, lemonwood. The gunmetal pen with the merbau lower part i used almost black wenge veneer. Both pens CA finish.

I mentor some high school students in my home shop (local school doesn't have one). One young man wanted to know where to acquire blanks. Told him they were everywhere. To prove a point, we took some scraps, glue and veneer. Here is what he ended up with.
