Looks like a lot of work went into this very nice pen! I am curious how this small detail is built?

All parts are drilled before assembling onto the tube. I cut a section of ebony and a similar sized piece of Maple. The maple is sandwiched with two brass rings.
I hope that I explained that clearly......it's been a long day!!!
