A friend gave me an old canteen of fish knives with Ivory handles, rather that dump them.
I heated the bolster with a flame gun to remove the tang with no success.
I cut the portion off with the tang ( green line ) and cut the handle in two with the scroll saw.
Etesia with Wenge.

Very attractive. 👏 Bog oak or dark ebony would also make a nice pairing.
Thanks Mark. This was the second blank. The first one was made using Ebony but it all came apart when drilling. It was difficult glueing ebony and Ivory. I sanded them for a better key, but maybe should have cleaned the oil from the Ebony better.
I'll see how I get on with number 3.

Nice blank. I agree with Mark. So many ways to enhance the ivory. BTW, did you check on the manufacturer or value of the knives? Hate to think they were a valuable collector's item.
The chap who gave me the set already checked all that. Pre 1947 items containing ivory can be resold but the stamps did not give a date for proof.
