Slimline Pro EDC Hububalli

Interesting variation in the two woods. The first one looks more like mahogany, but the second looks much nicer. Both are nice though.

Nice job. I've made a couple of those and I have to say it's one of my favorite click pens and it uses a Parker refill.

Thanks for this thread. . I am quite familiar with the original Slimline Pro pen kit, but this is the Slimline Pro EDC, a significant upgrade.
I have made many of the original Slimline Pro. . . I have not yet made any of the new Slimline Pro EDC.
Most of my Slimline Pro pens have been made with a single barrel. . There is a library article on how to do this.
It looks to me that the same modifications would work for the Slimline Pro EDC.

This Slimline Pro EDC kit makes use of the Schmidt SKM-192 click mechanism, which is a much improved and quieter click mechanism.

I would like to know how the two pen kits compare in other ways. . Maybe some who have made both can help do a comparison.

Here is a start at comparing the original Slimline Pro with this new Slimline Pro EDC (based on the PSI instruction sheets) :-

1. Both kits seem to use the same set of PSI bushings, namely the PK-PENXXBU
2. The brass tubes are the same diameter so that the drill size is the same, namely 8 mm
3. The original Slimline Pro has 2 brass tubes, each 2-1/32" long, whereas the Slimline Pro EDC has 2 tubes, each 1-7/8" long
4. The original Slimline Pro is sold with a Gelwriter refill, whereas the Slimline Pro EDC has a standard Parker refill
. . .Those two refills seem to by physically interchangeable. The Gelwriter has a clear plastic body; the Parker has a metal body.
. . . (not sure of the differences in the inks for writing quality, etc.)

The most significant difference, as already pointed out is :
5. The original Slimline Pro has a 3-piece click mechanism (plus spring) which has to be assembled by the pen-maker;
. . . the new Slimline Pro EDC has 1-piece Schmidt SKM-192 click mechanism (much better)

There is another major difference, which may not be very significant once the pen is assembled and operating :
6. The original Slimline Pro uses both a rear spring to help operate the click mechanism, as well as a front spring on the Gelwriter refill
. . .The new Slimline Pro EDC uses only one spring which is in the usual position at the front on the Parker refill.

So that's my listing of similarities/differences between the original Slimline Pro and the new Slimline Pro EDC.

Feel free to add any other points that you notice. . I am interested in anything that you might come up with.
