G'day
I absolutely love this stuff. Every piece is unique. Especially the swirly drippy fordite. From the Jeep factory, some had lots of voids, so cast in black resin to hold it together. On churchhill fountain pen, ca finish. The hourglass is a solid piece

Gorgeous! When you say you cast them in resin are you casting the whole blank or turning it down to a certain point then casting it?

These look awesome!
I just got my first fordite blanks. Any tips on working with it?

Awesome mate. Keep it cool, doesn't like heat. Carbide is a must, preferably negative rake cutters, light passes. I get them round on the belt sander gently before turning. Keep thin ca handy. Take regular breaks to check for de lamination and also to allow it to cool. I have a rag in a bucket of cold water and occasionally wrap the blank with it to cool it. Because there is no adhesive used between the layers, heat expands the layers and it will want to open up. Believe me, I've lost a few!
Some even sand the entire thing, with 80 grit. But be careful as the heat builds up very quickly. Hope this helps a little mate
