Treasured memories

This pen combines a military rifle shell fired at my grandpa's funeral and Walnut wood from my grandmother's desk name plate(she recently passed away), into a pen, once again, joining them together again. My dad asked if I could come up with a pen design with the rifle shell since it collects dust in a desk drawer. I pondered the idea for a month or so, realized i had mama's desk name plate made from walnut, which by the way, she had on a desk for 35 yrs, and went to work on it. Originally, my intention was to try and hammer the end of the shell small enough, so that it was the nib, but i started to notice hairline cracks, so i quickly stopped that. The end result, i used a piece of alternative ivory to create my own nib, as tedious as that was. Next is obvious, used the walnut and the upper portion of a euro style pen for the upper barrel. the combination worked great!
