As my lathe is for metal turning, I made my own mandrel from a guide rod out of an old printer. This one is 7mm dia, so I can turn a blank on it without gluing the brass tubes in place first. Also pictured are the spacers. These were made from a piece of centre-drilled 10mm mild steel.
