Here are a couple of pens I turned back in July of this year. I was so happy to turn some pens finally, after researching and studying for so long, I forgot to find out what type of wood I was turning. It came in a grab bag of wood blanks from Woodcraft. I have to learn my wood species by eye or stop buying grab bags.
If you know which it is I would appreciate a description. This pen set is currently in the hands of my wife and I. I don't think I could let go my first and second turnings.
They have not been polished, but they were finished with a few coats of medium CA glue. I didn't much, at the time about the various finishing techniques. Now I have a plethora of options to choose from, because of this forums knowledge base.
