The material was some kind of black&orange acrylic, but it is very translucent and since I painted the tubes black, the result is much darker than the original blank. But I like the effect. I replaced the kit coupler and lower cap on one end with my own since I accidentally shortened the tube and I needed a deeper hole for the convertor/rollerball refill. It turned out ok, I recommend it.
