we're being told to expect one of the worse ice storms in years this Thursday and Friday:mad:. Today outside it feels more like early spring, the old saying you don't like the weather just wait a few hours it'll change is so true.

Glad I changed my plans this week. I was scheduled to be at our plant in DeSoto, KS for the week. I hear that storm will swing down our way, but not until Saturday. I hope it doesn't get too bad here. I plan to hit the Woodworking Show that is in Atlanta this weekend.
 
Hey, don't think of it as a pain in the ass , freezing cold , no power inconvenience...think of all the free wood tha will fall to the ground....thought I'd try anyways..:smile:
 
Weatherman says we gonna get it Thusday night and Friday too....Hate it cuz I drive trucks and real hard to get arond in that CRAP...can think of other words but gona be nice
 
We're supposed to get it too, There was one here in 96 that knocked out power in my neighborhood for two and three weeks, some out of the way places for over a month.
 
Global warming?

Hey Roy,

We came to Benson, AZ, to enjoy a month of warm weather. Freezing our buns off. It's warmer back home in Texas.

Would somebody explain this "global warming" stuff to me again, please?

Cold weather

No, no! It's not global warming anymore. It's climate change. That covers them in case it gets colder (i.e., the truth comes out) instead of warmer.

Stan you mean there isn't any use for Yellow Southern Pine except for blocking roads, and driveways?? Oh I forgot the Paper Mill and feeding the pine borer!! Thanks Georgia Pacific Lumber and Tennaco Paper products, our main source of acid rain and river pollution.
 
So far the winter here in Michigan has been far better than average. We are going into the deep freeze in a couple days, but I can't complain about that, because normally we would be in the negative numbers a week or two back already.

Don't worry Roy, I was just listening to the news and they said the worst of it will stay north of the red river.

Oh, wait, YOU'RE north of the red river! :biggrin: Oh, well, better bring in some extra firewood and make sure you winterized the RV water lines!

I hate the red river! :mad: Everytime we get a chance of snow they always say... "Don't worry, the majority of it will stay north of the red river!
 
I played golf yesterday, temp was 74 degrees F. Today cold, raining temp is 61 F. I sincerely wish you folks could join me for a few days. I was born in North Dakota so know what weather is all about. Carl in Mesa, Arizona

Crushing houses and cars along with pulling power lines down is also mother natures use of the pine tree in an ice storm....Insurance companies love pine trees, I am pretty sure that is how the paper companies got started....frustrated insurance agents taking it out on pine trees.

Similar predictions for those of us in NE OK, too, Roy. All depends on the temperature when the moisture hits whether we get rain, 10" of snow or 1" of ice (as the local weather guys are predicting). Worst ice storm I've seen in my nearly 60 years living here was December 2007 (some photos attached). To make it worse, I wasn't really in to woodturning then so all this went into the burn pile! Trees snapping sounded like gunshots throughout the day. We lost power for 3 days and were among the lucky as several were without power for weeks.

I heard that we are going to be getting the tail end of it here, just some light snow and that's about all. So far where I've been we've dodged the bullet. I hope that luck holds out...
 
Jim, I well remember the 2007 ice storm, my pecan tree is still recovering from it, just hope that they're wrong about tomorrow but on tonights news said less snow but more ice:mad::eek::frown:!
