Hello, I made a sierra pen from some tubes I had,but had to buy the kits to finish it.I went to Rockler and got two sierra kits well the tubes just spin on the nib end of the pen(maybe the top as well didn't even check). Its not snug in anyway will nearly fall off on its own?Should I glue it with CA or go get new kits,I'm afraid all the kits in the store will be the same. The tubes that came with the kits are the same fit as the tube I turned???Thanks,Victor

Victor,

The nib end of a sierra is supposed to spin in the tube. The top (with clip) is a press fit but the nib end has to be able to spin in order to operate the twist mechanism.

Victor, the nib end is supposed to be loose enough to spin. The transmission slips into the cap, and the pressure of that connection is what holds the nib end and transmission in place. Check the caps to see if they need to be pressed into the tubes- my experience is that on most sierra variants it takes a slightly smaller amount of pressure to seat the cap into the tube than on most kits- I can almost put the caps in by hand. Then slip the nib end with the transmission installed up the tube and into the cap. You should be fine.

When I made my first Sierra I thought the same thing until I went ahead and followed the instructions and assmebled it to find that it is supposed to do that.

Instructions, we dont need no stinkin instructions.:biggrin:

Yeah, I didn't think so but didn't know why it was spinning... so I broke down and looked at them:rolleyes:.

I believe the TOS make that a 30 day suspension. Sorry.:mad:

No, not from the IAP, from the MAN CLUB!!! Real men don't read (except maps when we are "temporarily dislocated".):eek:

Thing is I have made maybe 10 sierras and none of them fit so loosely for me.I should have looked at the instructions before posting,LOL,but I always run to the IAP first.I just found how loose the nib was and didn't seem right so I didn't go any further. Thanks everyone I'm just a little slow,LOL,Victor
