I'm not sure if it's me or the saw but I can't get this thing to cut a straight line at all. Even in 1/4" thin stuff the blade bows. Is it something in the set up that I don't know about causing this or is the saw the problem? I'm not asking it to re-saw logs I just need something that will cut a straight line through 1" stock. I'm using the widest blade that I could find for it, not sure the actual specs off the top of my head. Any ideas on what I can/ need to do?
Thanks
Timothy

I had to play with the blade tension on mine for quite a while until it would give acceptable results, not to mention changing my feed rate of the material thru the blade helped. There is a "band saw tuneup" in the how to's here on the site. Look at that and give some of those suggestions a try..

I did try the tune up. I've also tightened the blade to the point where I've added washers to make the turn screw push more. Tried several different blade and feed rates.

I have a Ryobi too . No ,it want cut straight. I've done fine adjustments, bought blades, cussed etc. I have the best luck when I draw a line and try to follow the line by going slow and easy. I hate it,but can't afford another brand

Those of you with those little craptacular saws, consider the Craftsman 10". Rikon made, around $100. (That's the new price...)

I keep the top bearing as close as I can. I have wondered if the side roller guides have anything to do with it. They are not adjustable at all and have about 3/16" gap on both side of the top and bottom.

This is the little 9" one, right? If so, then the side guides ARE adjustable. Loosen up the hex screws then use the slot on the front to ROTATE the rollers. They are NOT centered, rather on a cam like setup.

Also, have you replaced the factory blade? If not, do so immediately. Once you put a better blade in it and get the guides MUCH closer to the blade, you'll be in better shape.

I have this saw, but do wish I saw the craftsman first... that is a NICE little saw. That being said, this one CAN be tuned. I cut 1/2" thick 2" tall corian square in 1/2 with it for pendants!

It doesn't look like it, but the little roller guides/bearings are adjustable. they are in offset sleeves. Try playing with them and you will see. This helps a lot. It took me a few weeks to figure that. out. PM me if you need more detail.

Thanks!
