Was just in Woodcraft looking at upgrading my bandsaw. I noticed that the Rikon 14" at $799 is a lot cheaper than the Jet and the Delta 14" AND it has 13" resaw capability without having to add a riser. Wouldn't normally consider something outside Jet or Delta (or Powermatic if I could afford it), but I absolutely loved my Rikon lathe.

Anything bad about this saw other than the odd blade size (111")?

Thanks,
Kyle

I love mine! I have had it for 2 years. Had an issue with a part, and they fixed it without question. Never had a problem finding blades. All in all, great piece of equipment.

I have one and wouldn't trade it for anything. The blade size is easy to find and it has plenty of power. The only thing I found was that when I hooked it up I had to switch it over to 220 volt(preset) to get it cranking without dimming the lights. If you have the chance to buy it, you won't be disappointed.

I have been eyeing that saw for a while. I think once I can squeeze out a bit more room I will likely be purchasing it. I really haven't seen any other band saw that has such good features in the price range. There are a lot of 14" saws for less money, but you would likely want to 'upgrade' many of those in order to gain the features in the Rikon - i.e. cast iron wheels, riser block, etc...

It would be nice to have bandsaw with that re-saw capacity for cutting larger pieces of wood. What's also nice is that is designed for that resaw height and you aren't try to get it out of a saw not designed for it by adding a riser block = more frame flex.

I just wanted to share this with everyone. I was on the phone with Rikon the other day and it was mentioned to me that the 10-325 14" deluxe bandsaw will be going on sale at Woodcraft in November for $699. If I didn't already own one, I would go and buy one. I am actually thinking about buying a second one at that price just so I don't have to keep changing guides and blades for bandsaw boxes.

WOO HOO! May have to do this. Anybody else have any ideas for something better than this for the same price???????

How does the 14" grizzly extreme line up against this one?

Since you asked, the Rikon has more than twice the resaw capacity which is important to me and it also has 2 speeds so I can have a bit more control over the cutting. One of the main reasons I really like the Rikon is the design of the frame, it is very sturdy and you will get a whole lot less flex from it. All around it is a better choice for me.

With the 3/4" blade, you can cut large burls and chunks without a lot of blade wander. Good work horse for heavy sawing. Make sure to get the 14" deluxe. Well worth the extra money.
