I am new at the whole casting thing so please bare with me.

My girlfriend talked to a guy from there on the phone, and he talked her into getting me the opaque and clear. He said I would need a pressure pot for the opaque.

What I want to know is, who has the silcone type moulds I see for a decent price? If not those, any moulds would work. I just want to cast some stuff, not turning it into a business or anything.

Let me know..

gadget makes some awesome molds , I use them all the time . Some people use the white plastic cutting boards from wally world , just cut them up and screw them together .

There is a tutorial on my website under "penturner's resources" for making the molds out of white cutting boards. Total cost: about $$4 each!
 
I have NewLondon's molds, a pair of cutting board molds, and some ABS pipe. The pipe is my preferred material for generic blanks. NewLondon's are awesome for the kit it's made for, and I don't take the cutting board ones out at all any more.

In an emergency you can make a mold from scrap wood and stick plastic wrap inside. I did that when I first started.

Look around, molds are everywhere. Rx containers, PVC pipe, someone even used the bottom of the stackable hardware containers. I have used the 3/4" pen tubes that you would put a finished pen into as a mold. I just turn the plastic part off a go from there.

Anything you can do to give you the shape you want is good.. The first
molds I made for casting were pretty easy. I got some RTV silicone, a
chunk of Corian and I cut/sanded/polished the Corian to the shape and size
I wanted, waxed the outside and put it in a mold box on a flat surface.
The mold box was simply a wooden frame around the Corian, leaving 3/4"
extra on each side. (you can get away with less) Then I poured the silicone
over it, let it cure and I had a mold. That's fine if you want to make
blocks.. say 6 x 6 x 3/4 or something like that.

Since jackbarnes started offering his double stick tape, I've been using that
A LOT for making molds. I don't even use both sides half the time, but it's
a good, wide tape and it holds VERY well.. so put that on the bottom of
the mold box and the silicone doesn't leak out the bottom. Made life much
easier for making molds.

As mentioned above, I make some molds for label and skin casting, but
those are for a pretty specific applications, probably not what you're
looking for. Gadget has some molds for individual blanks and they work
fine and are affordable. They're easy to use; just pour your resin and
wait impatiently while they cure.
Don't poke the resin.

These things are very durable and cheap to make. I made mine ~1" square by 5.5" long.

I have had no problems with the mold spliting or such. The molds allow good movement to allow seperation of the blank from the mold.

Basically, what I am saying is try one and if it doesn't work....try another style but this one is by far the cheapest and easiest.

Oh yeah, just make sure you let the mold dry for a good amount of time. I let mine set overnight and it was dry on the all the visible sides but when I went to remove it, the non visible sides were still wet......
