This is the work bench I made out of 1x4's and 2x4's. the base could more than likely hold up a car. The top is just 2x4's cut and glued up in three sections and than the three sections glued up and all hand planed down flat. I was using my old Metal front door on my house and 2 saw horses. I had to clamp a project down good and the door was bent out of shape. I'll bet I won't do that agian. I added a power strip, Vise and dog holes, and plenty of drawers and shelving for storage. Out of everything I have made, I use this every day and don't know how I got anything done with out it. This was very fun to build and learned so much. Any woodworker considers it like a right of passage to get one built. The finish is 2 coats of American General, Seal-A-Cell and several coats of saw dust. Let me know what you think.

I read the desription, before the pictures came up..I was expecting some cobbled up 2x4's..geez, it's wonderful

That's one good looking workbench. I wish I had the room for something that nice. Great job. Do you take orders? I mean I could be there in about an hour or so to pick it up...really.

I think it looks great. I would also worry about getting glue or paint or deep scratches on the top surface.

WELL DONE! best use of 2x4s ever, i've often thought of doing a bench similar to this, but way less cool... you've inspired me. thanks for sharing.

I don't have any plans but could draw some up. The material cost along is around $450.00 including the bench clamp and dog ears. Yes Randall, I would be interested in building another one as long as you come and get it when its done.
