This was my second attempt at a pepper mill, but the first was one with a one piece mechamism at the bottom -- much more forgiving. I made a number of mistakes on the way to this one (measured wrong, didn't drill straight), but I was able to mostly recover:

Nicely done... I like doing pepper mills... I mostly work with the crush grind because they are more forgiving for me due to my measurementally challenged nature... I'll measure cut, measure and discover it's too short, cut it off again, and it'll still be too short.:mad:
 
What type of kit did you use? I want to do a matching pepper/salt set and I've seen quite a few different types.

This is made from the "Premium" mechanism from CSUSA. I didn't see a premium salt mill, but it turns our the Premium and the Deluxe mechanisms are very similar. They use the same sized holes, same instructions, etc. So you could mix and match in a set without problems.
