So I ordered a Gent kit in titanium for a very special blank that was given to me. I wanted to do a great job on it and put it on a nice kit. My problem is, I got the kit today, but I dont have a 37/64 drill bit.:frown:
I checked CSUSA and they are out of stock on them.
Does anyone have an extra one laying around?

I don't have the bit you are looking for...just wanted to warn you...
Be CAREFUL!!! I got two seperate Jr. Gent II kits--one from CSUSA and one from Rockler...2 different pen tube sizes from kit to kit. Could only turn one of them.

Scott,
They are different sizes because of the cap. The cap size is bigger. On a lighter not, I just got your email and I like the third one the best. I like the nib in the corner and everything. Im going to try and change my background color to that light blue.

No, not the size between lower barrel and upper barrel...I'm talking about the lower barrel from the CSUSA kit was one size and the lower barrel from the Rockler Kit was another. If I remember right it was the CSUSA kit that was 10.5 mm lower barrel and 12.5 mm upper barrel. The Rockler kit was the standard (fraction) sizes. I figured they were corresponding metric and standard sizes. No such luck though.

Glad you're diggin' the logo. Do you want the final files or doo you think there are more changes?

Ok, I got ya.
I think the logo is good. No need to revise any more. I know im asking a lot but do you think you could include a picture of a pen or something similar I could use for my buttons? All I need is the art and I just upload it to the button back ground.

I got mine from PSI - it's the same as their "Majestic" kit

Cheers!

i think a 37/64 comes out to .5781 if u have a 14.5 mm it should work as it is.5709. might have to "work" it a bit but if my math is right it should work. 15mm might work with the right glue but might be a bit sloppy.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and suggestions. CSUSA finally got them in so, I just ordered one. They have the $5.00 super saver shipping right now.

Thanks Again
Brian

Scott: Your comment interests and puzzles me?

May I ask if you actually measured the ODs of the tubes with a caliper or a mike or based your comment on the drill size recommendations that came with the kits.

CSUSA recommends 10.5mm and 12.5mm drill bits for the Jr. Gent II kit while Rockler recommends the 13/32" and the 31/64" bits. Both sets of recommendations will probably work; but the Rockler bit recommendations will produce holes that are extremely tight. IIRC, CSUSA used to recommend the bite sizes quoted on the Rockler web site when the kit first came out; but revised their recommendation when they realized it was not the best.

I would be willing to bet that if you actually measure the tubes, you would find out they are the same size in both kits. If not, then Rockler has somehow messed up your order.......maybe included the wrong tubes with the kit. It has happened before!!

Yeah, I was talking about the printed instructions that came with the kits. I have "digital calipers" on my wishlist...but unfortunately I don't have anything for measuring with that type of precision in my shop right now.

Well, if you had had the calipers, I bet you would have found that the Gent II tubes from Rockler and CSUSA were the same size despite what the instructions intimated.....so there was an application right there.

Lots of folks don't depend upon bushings to determone the final diamater of thrir barrels. They use a digital caliper and measure the pen hardware as it is not uncommon to find bushings don't quite match the hardware.

You can get a very serviceable digital caliper from HF for $20....even less when they are on sale!!

I would recommend you pick up a unit the next time it is convenient. Once you have one in house, you will be surprised at the number of non-pen related situations where you will use it.

I think he has a gent kit, not a jr gent so the 10.5 and the 12.5 are not the right sizes. I saw this thread just a minute too late I guess or I could have loaned you a bit.
