So – this falls into the "Other Things We Make" category in two different ways: it's directed towards razors instead of pens, and also... it isn't a physical thing, but rather, is a digital product.

I may eventually build this for pens as well - but, this is a razor configurator that allows people to design their own razor, and get a live preview of what it might look like, and then purchase it (if they wish).

Essentially, they can select their different settings, customize it how they like.. and if they purchase it, it sends me the specs, and I will make it & ship it to them.

This represents a massive amount of work, learning, and venturing out of my comfort zone over the past couple of months. But I am immensely proud of how it's turning out.

I've had to learn 3D modeling (to make the razors, components, etc.), product photography (for capturing more realistic skins for the razor handles)... and don't even get me started on the programming side of it. Building this out so it can be customized, ensuring that it works as an e-commerce system, etc. It has definitely been filled with a lot of challenges. But... here on the other side of it, I am super happy with it.

So – without further ado... check it out, and let me know what you think!

My comments are only for the shape/profile, which I LOVE! I think the bulb end would feel great; keep the profile! The blank posted also looks wonderful. Fond wishes for a successful ramp up. Thanks for sharing.

I applaud you for your skillset(s) that you have newly acquired to launch your project. Just curious, is that your
starting point for price expectation for the razor 🪒?

That is ridiculously cool. Very professional looking. And it works even better than Penn State's custom pen configurator. I can't even imagine the coding behind it. Very nice.

I haven't launched this yet, and so the price point may change... but, I keep waffling back and forth.

On one hand, I look at what it would cost somebody if they wanted to make one themselves. I actually went through and added all of the required supplies to create a razor (assuming they had a lathe, turning tools, and a mandrel)... and it came to like $92 and some change. So, once you factor in shipping supplies, packaging materials, and your time... $150 doesn't sound unreasonable.

On the other hand, I realize that there aren't a TON of people who would be willing to spend $150 on a razor... even if it is customized to their specifications.

So... it will likely require some fine-tuning to figure out what price point works. But, for the sake of getting it built, that is what I started with.
