Each August I help plan and play in a fraternity alumni golf tournament. At the end of the round we gather in the club house to tell lies about our golf game, rehash old school stories and do a live auction to raise funds for the fraternity's philanthropy.

I donated these two pens for the auction this year. The first one is a patriotic bolt action pen that uses a JohnU waving flag blank. The second pen continues the bolt action theme and is a tec pen that uses a blank poured using the Fraternity colors.

This is a group that is willing to spend but unfortunately there are only a few "pen guys" in it so while the pens do well I'd love to see them go higher. If memory serves they did $80-90 for each pen.

I use GluBoost on all my pens. The hardware and JohnU flag blank were all purchased at Exotic Blanks.

For some reason I didn't get photos on a back drop of the pens before the tournament.

Nice thing to do. I've donated to several charity auctions over the years. I donate because I want to. I can't control the selling price. So, I donate and don't concern my self with the selling price.

Yeah, I take the same approach. I'd love to see them sell for more just because of the charity auction aspect but I'm happy to see them sell well and people ask every year what I've brought so I take that as a good thing. It's interesting to see how different things sell. This is the first year I didn't have a wood pen, usually I try to do one with wood and a second (or third) with some form of resin.
