I am looking for the label size for a couple pens I am working on. Anyone know the size to make the label for a PSI Majestic Squire EDC click
and a PSI Cat Twist pen? Thanks

I usually just wrap the tube with paper and tape it at the seam and then cut down the tube with a razor blade removing the paper. Then measure it adding an 1/8" to the width and length and that's the size I print.

And for you "math challenged" people like me, blue painters tape around the tube also works. Lol

After you measure the tape you had on the tube, test print a label on regular paper and wrap it around the tube to see if it fits so you don't waste your label paper.

The blue tape method is the way I was taught for other things than pen tubes too and it works well. If I am not mistaken there is a company weather it is Penn State or Turners or someone else that sells a kit that has jigs for various tube sizes and is basically a flat piece of plastic that has all the math done already.. Maybe someone can link the kit I am referring to. Off the top of my head my mind is blank as usual.

I go to Ptownsubbie and look at their Label Sizing Templates. The website lists the sizes of all of their templates to 1/100th of an inch. It could be a starting point - then as John Underhill suggested, print a sample on paper to see if it fits and to adjust the overlap as you see fit. I also do this prototype print to accomodate any mismatch in scale between my software and my printer and to judge the image at the overlap to determine if it looks ok (as far as pattern matching goes). They show a CAT upper and lower, but I don't know if it is the PSI version and as for the Majestic Squire, they have one labeled Majestic Squire, but I don't know if it is the EDC you have. There is also a helpful little video on the page.

Regards - Dave

If you use πd or 2πr of course, don't forget to add 0.125ish for a seam overlap. Also be sure to measure the diameter with a caliper or micrometer because the tube sizes in pen kits are defined using a Hole Basis System for dimensioning and tolerancing - i.e. the tube is defined by the size of the hole it will fit into such as a 7mm tube fitting into a 7mm hole and so on. - Dave
