This is a Diamond Knurl rollerball in all Ti Gold. The blank is another from Jakob Jannsen on Etsy with pinecones embedded. I decided to go with a matching center band and finial on this one. The inside of the blanks were painted white. The finial took a few tries, but I do love the way it came out with the flower shape in it. The larger than life picture makes it look like I need to clean a little glue, but I'm quite happy with it.

Really beautiful! I've done one pinecone blank pen before, and while it did turn out looking nice, I had a bear of a time getting it to cut without chipping and losing bits.

holy. cow. that. is. drop. dead. gorgeous.

Really nice job, if you hadn't shared the final photo to point out where you might need to clean glue you'd never know it. I've been telling myself I want to use one of the c series pens to do the cabuchon/finial and center band just like what you've done here. You've absolutely sold me on the idea now.

The white background for the photos is really great too.

It was a little tricky, but not as bad as that thistle and cattail blank. The finial... now that took several attempts.

Thanks. The larger than life pictures do show any little imperfection.

I had to build up the courage to potentially ruin a nice pen kit by driving the finial out with a hammer and transfer punch, but it was a lot easier than I thought and the custom finial definitely takes the finished product over the top. I'm definitely sold on it. Now, if only the tiny things wouldn't fly away so easily.

That background was some chiffon my wife had in the photo box for her jewelry. I was holding my breath that I didn't get ink on it. 😬

I know exactly what you mean by not wanting to ruin a pen cap and feel the same way. Watching JohnU knock them out like they're in his way on a video of his kind of cured me of it. I'm going to have to get set up and do this now.

I imagine the potential impact to the chiffon was more fraught with intrigue than the finial on the cap though

Wonderful looking pen! Have a few spinning tops to do and since I have some pine cones in the attic, I think I'd like to try something like this.
