The previous posts on this subject that I've found are several years old. I'm wondering if anyone has come up with anything new on replacing these nibs. The ones from Penn State are...um...pitiful.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you will find a replacement.

Might want to try tuning the nib that comes with the pen, it can be made to write pretty well.

Most fountain pen kits have nibs that are less desirable (IPG).Have you tried tuning them? Lots of information online.

My guess is the nib is a #5. I'm not sure if all #5 nibs are the same. Maybe someone can chime in with the info you need.

Good news everyone. Fountain Pen Revolution makes a #5.5 that's a perfect fit.

Hmmmmm.
I bought a whole set of the FPR 5.5, and they don't fit my PSI executive pens. The nibs are loose and don't hold in at all.

The nibs do fit snugly into Berea Atrax and EB Diamond Knurl. Which is weird because those IPGs are identical to the Executive. The Executive feed/housing are different, but the nibs are the same.

You can see the Revolution nib (center) has a rounder arc.

FYI, I bought the high-flow feeds for the ultra Flex nibs and it doesn't work with any pens I have.

I've occasionally gotten nibs that were loose. I place the nib on a hard surface and press gently on the back to flatten the curve out a bit. That makes the edges wedge against the sides of the section and also ensures better contact with the top of the feed. YMMV but it's always worked for me.

Looking at your picture you can see what I mean. The nib on the right has been visibly flattened a bit vs the rounder nib in the center

I didn't know if reshaping it like that would wreck the alignment or affect the line weight. Guess I'll try it and see on one nib.

If you can limit the reshaping to the part of the nib away from the tip behind the breather hole, it shouldn't distort the shape of the slit. (But I don't know if it's possible to do that.)
