Engraving

I haven't seen this question on the IAP for a long time - so I'll ask it to see if there have been any changes.
Have any of you had success engraving on the components? I have had a couple of recent requests to engrave on the metal rather than the blank - latest was for a bolt action.

Good question. If you don't have engraving capabilities, check with a local trophy shop.

The last time I had one engraved the engraving went through the plating - exposing the underlying metal. The plating is very durable but very thin. Have you had good success engraving?

I've used my diode laser to engrave on the clip of a stainless steel kit. Not all diodes are capable since it involves changing the wavelength of the diode. I'll see if I can find a picture of the result later today.

Steve - Stainless steel isn't a problem since it isn't plated
