Been there…..Sometimes they break with the grain because they are so small and thin. You probably wont be able to see it once it's glued back together.

Agree with John. Put it back together and turn it. Good chance the breaks will not be noticeable.

Close up it looks like there was some small chunks that broke away leaving an open area. Any chance you can disassemble the pen parts and rub some similar colored sanding dust in there with a little thin CA over it. That might fix the obvious appearance of the break.

Photos make it too easy to blow up and inspect for small detail and create shadows. I'm sure your efforts were successful and it would be harder to see your fix in person. The average person would see the nice looking pen. You, knowing where your fix was, would look for it. You did good!

For sure it's fixable. I've done it with these kits that little pieces break off and disappear. A little white dust and darker dust from a blank with some thin CA. Easy peazy.
