Close up it looks like there was some small chunks that broke away leaving an open area. Any chance you can disassemble the pen parts and rub some similar colored sanding dust in there with a little thin CA over it. That might fix the obvious appearance of the break.

That is as good as I could get it.
 
Photos make it too easy to blow up and inspect for small detail and create shadows. I'm sure your efforts were successful and it would be harder to see your fix in person. The average person would see the nice looking pen. You, knowing where your fix was, would look for it. You did good!
 
For sure it's fixable. I've done it with these kits that little pieces break off and disappear. A little white dust and darker dust from a blank with some thin CA. Easy peazy.
