Signed-In Members Don't See This Ad
I doubt there will be one this year. The planning would have already started. Those of us who ran contests had already been working on it by this time. It takes a massive amount of work for the leadership team and the fact that it has lasted as long as it has is a testament to their commitment and love of this site.
 
A couple things come into play here that I noticed over the years. First is the participation of not only the contests but also the contest voting has dropped tremendously. What that means I do not know. I do know there are many new members here that probably do not know about the celebration and there is the old timers that probably lost interest. The contests have become more redundant and this makes for boring contests. There was some talk last year weather or not to do that one and it was decided a go but it came up that probably to get some excitement back again to stretch the contests out to maybe a 5 year spacing or an every other year happening. So basically this is where this ended up.

Pen exchanges are a way to satisfy some urges but you are not competing with your peers. But that is for others to take charge of. Good luck.

I agree I have seen reduced participation and understand the decision not to hold one this year. I was asking because I had not seen anything posted as to if we were having one or not. I assumed we were not from the lack of posts about it but I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed something along the way. I enjoy the BASH and the contests, but from the participation I think I am in the minority. I really enjoyed it a couple of years back when we had the auctions. That was enjoyable. I won Puzzlemeister back in 2022 albeit I was surprised at that. Even though I enjoy the puzzles and such I am not very good at them.

I hear you Kevin. As I said the bang is gone from the Bash. It does not draw enough attention. Promotion has dropped even when it was being run. One thing that has put dampers in the Bash platform is the amount of prizes available. The vendors that contributed are inundated with requests for so many other events during the year from all the other gatherings. We are not the only ones pulling on their purse strings any more. So many prizes come down to us and it usually blanks. I know myself how many more blanks can one store. Yes you have the unique blanks such as the ones John U makes and the segmented blanks. That is why last year I contributed some of my cast blanks because they are not seen too much either. Anyway it is just an event that has become overplayed I think because we also had the Summer Extravaganza which basically was similar but geared more toward kids. But how many kids really are interested in pen turning. You do not see it throughout the year. Maybe doing it with time off in between can draw interest again or maybe the format needs tweeking. What the answer is beyond my pay grade.

Now with this all said. There is no reason that someone could not step up and hold an impromptu single event on a smaller scale above and beyond if the desire is so great. Just saying. Or create some other game or celebration.
 
I was just checking in on the BASH to see about donating blanks for prizes. Put me on the list for when you need prizes and blanks!

And does that mean we won't have the BASH coupons? I always ordered alumilite with the IAP code in February.
