Problems with 8" grinder

I have a two speed 8" grinder. I just ordered a CBN wheel to upgrade!
Problem: The CBN wheel is 8" diameter and the wheel I am removing is 7 3/8". The new wheel hits the steel guard.
Did I order the wrong wheel or am I doing something wrong? I could not find a 7 3/8 CBN wheel. They are both 1" wide.
I bought aluminum washers to go with it but they are lug nut washers not grinder washers. the whole is too small to fit over the shaft,

Yep, I did the same thing to the side of my grinder when I replaced the white al-ox wheel with a double-width CBN wheel.

Just remember to keep the guard(s) and re-install them if you revert to the old-style wheel.
