Been using TB CA glue for years but today, I'm having a bit of an issue with the fumes. What epoxy does the members use? Thanks.
So I had the same issue with JB Weld as Dave, the fumes were noxious while it cured and sometimes could even smell it for a few days in various projects. (not always a pen maker)Hi John, I use JB Weld Clearweld 5 minute, just because it is what they carry in my local Menards. I think it is pretty stinky when it is mixed. I especially notice the stink when I add a drop of Acrylic craft paint to color it for resin blanks. Other than the smell, it has served me quite well. - Dave
Where did you get it? I'm never in a hurry to turn blanks. I'll glue the tubes one day and turn the next day.I've used DEVCON but ARALDYTE slow setting ( 2 hour working time ) is excellent and my go to selection. Allows me to mix well and take my time in assembly. Also allows the stuff to penetrate the fibres well
Try the BSI super gold its odorless . I've used it for 12 years and hundreds of pens with no more irritation.Been using TB CA glue for years but today, I'm having a bit of an issue with the fumes. What epoxy does the members use? Thanks.

System three T-88? That's what I use after you suggested it a couple years ago. Great stuff and never had any trouble. Just be sure you have the parts where they belong cause you'll never get them separated once it dries.Everyone knows what I use.
YEP. Still use it.System three T-88? That's what I use after you suggested it a couple years ago. Great stuff and never had any trouble. Just be sure you have the parts where they belong cause you'll never get them separated once it dries.
It's a company, System Three, out of Lacy Washington. As you mentioned Ian, it works great and a little bit goes a long way.The ARALDYTE slow set is now called " precision" over this side of pond anyway. T 88 seems to get rave reviews over that side but not seen it here
I'm the same Mark! It works great for me so why change?I used System Three/two part from a local Woodcraft store. Never had a problem, so never tried others - I'm lazy. If it works as wanted, I'm good.
I glue all tubes in with it. I use it and other epoxy for segmenting blanks. I also use it in many aspects of my woodworking ventures in the shop.I very rarely use epoxy but am interested under what circumstance others use it. For gluing tubes I use polyurethane, and very rarely have any issues. I like the long open time and the gap filling properties.
I've tried 3 different versions of packaging - the "double-syringe-with-mixer-nozzle" is my least favorite. The normal double-syringe is okay, but my preference is the old-fashioned two separate bottles because I find it easier to get equal quantities of part A and part B. (The syringes never seem to push equal amounts for me.)duncsuss, our local Ace Hardware carries Devcon Two Ton epoxy. If they are out, they will order some for stock. I go back in a couple of days and get two syringes.
Our local Ace Hardware just relocated to location that is 3X the size of their old place. Wife spotted this on the shelf. Will run through the CA glue first.I started using this recently and have not been disappointed yet on wood resin, or hybrid.

I'm hoping it doesn't thicken up like the amber, foaming version. Time will tell. Our local Ace Hardware just relocated to location that is 3X the size of their old place. Wife spotted this on the shelf. Will run through the CA glue first.
I use BSI (Bob Smith Industries) 30-minute because I usually do several glue-ups at once. I've not noticed any smell - at least from normal working distance.Been using TB CA glue for years but today, I'm having a bit of an issue with the fumes. What epoxy does the members use? Thanks.
Most online pen vendors carry it, but I get it locally at a hobby store.Where do I get it? Looking at all options.
I was referring to CA, but for epoxy I use Bob Smith which I get at hobby lobby.Where do I get it? Looking at all options.
