I know it's hard to believe, but I'm looking for something else. I can't find them anywhere.

I'm looking for this kind of nib insert/ferrule. I'm unable to find them, but I know they are out there. I think they are called a "comic" insert. Does anyone carry them?

To be clear, I am looking for the insert/ferrule part. Like this, I'm trying to find these that are rubber/plastic, not the stainless steel ones.

There are many suppliers of metal inserts. But my limited search has not turned up anyone who offers plastic inserts.

I think Kate's suggestion would be a good starting point - purchase a cheap bulk package of plastic nib holders and take one apart to see how its made. It may be that they are monolithic - the insert is just part of the overall plastic body, in which case you could cut down the plastic nibholder to make inserts to fit into your own nibholder body.

Alternatively, there is 3D printing.

Best I've ever come up with for this is possibly buying a cheap bulk pack and removing them from their holders
That seems to be the consensus about how fast like get them, apparently you can't just buy them.

Also, do you like them better? I'm having trouble with the ss ones not being consistent and they are $1 each so I'd you get several that you can't use that adds up.

3d printing, that's a great idea, I mean I don't have one, but it's a brilliant idea. 💡

I've always used the stainless steel ones but i've looked at these before because of customer preference

Edit: Meant to reply to a different comment here and reposted below, but also curious what solution you ended up with.

I do have a 3d printer....so maybe i could come up with something
Did you ever end up trying to print these, or did you end up harvesting them? I went down a rabbit hole last year looking for these, and even contacted Tachikawa to inquire about buying the ferrules. They responded to me that they would not sell the ferrules and to "only use genuine Tachikawa products."

Since then I mostly gave up on it and just use the stainless steel rose ferrules from Christopher Yoke, but as fate would have it, just got a commission for two nib holders using these "comic mount," ferrules, to be used with a Kakimori nib. I just bought a a couple packs of the bulk comic pen holders (not authentic Tachikawa) to test out, one with grey and one with black inserts. I have also harvested one from one of my real Tachikawa pens and plan to compare to see if there is a noticeable quality difference.

I think a 3D printed option would work, but would likely need to be resin printed, or printed with 0.2mm nozzle for FDM, which can be fussy.

I would be interested in the difference you find between the two ferrules.

Ok here is what I ordered:

And here is what I received:

Interestingly they all came grey, which is disappointing because I wanted to have a black option, however I am pleased that the quality looks better than the photos of the black ferrules. Next I will see which are easier to harvest.
