We had 23 for dinner (6 cancelled due to illnesses) - a wonderful family gathering to be grateful for what we have vs what we want. Most precious - time together - 3 generations. We lost the last of the eldest generation this year; it had been a 4 generations celebration.

Our daughter hosted 9 family members for dinner today. Food & fellowship was awesome. We were missing 3 others this year - our granddaughter was with her dad this year, our step-grandson is in rehab (prayers for recovery), and we lost our son in August. We are thankful for all our blessings, but especially for the 40 wonderful years that we got to spend with our son.

Was a great day. Our grandson surprised us with the first great-grandson who is now two months old. Reminiscing from my early days and making new memories are part of the holidays. BTW, starting serious Christmas shopping next week. Got a list and checking it twice. Hmmm. Good theme for a song, huh?
