Can I ask what are you celebrating? Is Thanksgiving an American or a Christian holiday? I never understood it, although the food seems very good!

It is an American holiday. Its origins trace back to the earliest European settlers to America. President Lincoln declared an official day of giving thanks for our many blessings, even as our Civil War was raging. Congress made the 4th Thursday of November a federal holiday in 1880.

Christians believe that all of our gifts come from God, so we are always mindful of that and thankful to God for our blessings. For us, Thanksgiving is a time to be even more mindful of thst.

For others, it's a time to gather with friends & family, share fellowship and be thankful for blessings, even without any religious connotation.
 
Happy Thanksgivings my friends! Enjoy being with family and friends, eating too much, and taking the traditional nap in your favorite chair (Lol).
