If you're following the news, you're probably aware already of what happened in my country - Israel.
I'm not here to start any sort of political discussion, and fortunately I myself didn't lost relatives.

However, I wanted to tell you that no matter how horrible of a day we have in our workshops sometimes, there are much more important things in life.
Even at the time I'm not stuck in the bomb shelter, all of my pen making business seems very irrelevant right now. Also, thank you very much for all the people and countries who have shown their support to us.

In hope for better days,
Amihai Fishman.

The company I work for has a branch office in Yavne (an industrial area about halfway between Tel Aviv and Gaza). So far, our office and all my co-workers and their families are safe.

My heart breaks for all the victims of these horrible terrorist attacks. Stay safe.

My wife and I lived on Kibbutz Adamit. The day before yesterday Hezbolla tried to come in through there. We have many friends in Israel and our thoughts are with you all. There must be a way to break this cycle of violence. Shalom aleinu v'al kol Yisrael.

My thoughts and prayers are for Israel.
Genesis 12.1-3:
1. The Lord had said to Abram, "Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you.

2. "I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
3. I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you."

I was to go to Israel the day the Yom Kippur war began. Flight was cancelled...I did go in Feb 1974 until August and stayed on Givat Brenner. What happened Sat breaks my heart and every decent person in the world. To those in harms way stay safe and good luck. You're not alone...we're in your corner.

Our thoughts are with you and your countrymen. The company I retired from (35 year employee) has a manufacturing plant in the South, not far from Gaza in Be'er Sheva and in Dimona. We also have a plants in Petah Tikva by Holon and in Migdal Ha'Emek in the North, just outside of Nazareth. I visited my engineering departments and the manufacturing plants in Israel many times over the course of 25 years and have many friends and colleagues there. It is an awful thing that has happened. - Dave

I have friends in Jerusalem. I just heard from them and so far they are OK. They go to a bomb shelter every time the alarms sound.

Yeah. What's happening in Israel/Gaza really sucks.

Let's try to remember there are Palestinians - innocent ones - that are dying too.

If I were the president of America I would get the biggest green light I could find and place it so all Israelis to see.
Be strong, be proud and never surrender, the civilized world is with you.
God speed

I don't know if you know this, but green lights are used to adorn the mosque minarets in Egypt.

There is a way, but sadly, no one seems particularly interested in peace.
By all accounts, Jews, Christians and Muslims seemed to be doing ok together during the British Mandate years. The declaration of the State of Israel, in 1948, seems to be a historical landmark in the region. Everything changed. It was the beginning of what I see as a blood feud.

Sorry I did not know that and certainly not my intention........
I'm sure. It's really trivial. By odd coincidence.

to me the green light simply means GO GO GO !!!!!!!!!!
Well, the Israelis have never really needed a green light from anyone when it comes to beating the crap out of Palestinians.
I find it curious. Palestinians lob a couple rockets into Israel and the Israelis respond by leveling a town, killing or displacing its occupants. This has been going on for as long as I can remember, and the cycle doesn't change.

The Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Dachau, Ravensbrück, Warsaw accounts might be worth picking up sometime when you're reading (or citing) "all accounts."

My thought are for the innocent people / children of whatever race or creed.

Violence is not the answer , the innocent suffer in any conflict. Hopefully sometime realisation and peace will happen. Until then stay safe and I wish you well.

You left out Treblinka.

Yes, I've read about all those places and more. I've also watched countless documentaries on the Holocaust.
However, I fail to see what that has to do with Gaza.

I left out several. "By all accounts, Jews, Christians and Muslims seemed to be doing ok together during the British Mandate years." The declaration of the state of Israel was a direct response to the fact that they weren't.

I doubt that very much. Israel was declared in response to post-war Zionism and guilt.
