Hi all,
I've decided to start offering abalone pen blanks for sale and wondered if anyone here would be interested.
I have several different colors I'm experimenting with and would love any input you guys have to offer. I have these blanks cast on 3/8" tubes at 5" long but would be interested to know what other tube sizes would be popular. I just listed these on Etsy an hour ago, but I wanted to give IAP members a first shot at them. The Etsy price is $40, but the price for this lot to IAP members is $30 each + $4 shipping. If you want more than one, shipping is free.

Again, any feedback regarding color, tube size, etc. would be helpful! Hope you like them!

27/64 for Sierra kits and 27/64 for these Fantasy Twist pens. I have cast them in abalone before and they come out looking great.

Are you doing strips or are they full pieces wrapped around tubes using the flex stuff?? If strips, how are you cutting them?
These are made with strips. However, I have used the flex stuff for thinner tubes and it works well. It's just hard to find the flex sheets in all the different colors.

I'm usually not one to keep secrets, but I'm going to hang on to this one for now. :)
So you joined the so called secret holders of cutting abalone. There are only a few ways done Laser or knife of some sort. I have tried paper cutters both roller blade and lever and they crack abalone. I have settled on carbide utility blades but it does take time. Now I am not into selling any type blanks so time is not a factor. One of these days I may invest in a laser of some sort when I do find out what ones are good for this type work. But will keep trying. I just do not get why so much secrecy People won't even state what laser they use. I understand you want to sell blanks but will tell you that you have a ton of competition. Look at Exotic Blanks and see the vendors. Good luck.
